Frequently asked questions about Arku acoustic panels
Why is PET a good material for acoustic panels?
PET felt is lightweight, strong and recyclable. It provides effective sound absorption and makes the panels easy to handle and install.
Can the acoustic panels be used in both private homes and commercial buildings?
Yes, they are suitable for private homes, offices and public spaces alike. They are particularly well suited for renovations and new builds.
Are Arku acoustic panels fire-safe?
Yes. Arku acoustic panels are tested and classified as B-s1,d0 according to the European standard EN 13501-1. This means that they have high fire resistance, produce very little smoke and no burning droplets.
In practice, this makes Arku panels ideal for offices, public buildings and private homes alike, where safety and documented quality are just as important as design and acoustics. You get a lightweight and sustainable material that also meets professional fire safety requirements.
How much do the acoustic panels weigh?
Arku acoustic panels weigh around 2 kg per m², making them significantly lighter than traditional acoustic boards, which often weigh five to six times as much.
The low weight means that the panels are easier to handle and install, especially when working overhead, where heavy materials can quickly strain the body and shoulders.
At the same time, one person can easily handle the entire installation – without using specialist tools or aids.
Are the materials in Arku ceiling panels safe for indoor air quality?
Yes. Arku acoustic panels are developed with a focus on a healthy and safe indoor climate.
The material is certified for low emissions and tested according to European standards (AgBB), which ensure that no harmful substances are released into the air.
The panels meet REACH requirements for chemical safety, meaning that they do not contain substances considered harmful to health.
Do Arku acoustic panels emit VOCs?
No. Arku panels are tested according to EN 16516, which measures emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOC).
The results show very low emissions – below 0,067 mg/m³ – well below the limit values applicable to building materials.
This means that the panels do not emit odours or unhealthy fumes, and they contribute to a clean and pleasant indoor climate, even in enclosed rooms.
